My stand-up
comedy act has been hailed by Jewish, American and Arab audiences alike
who appreciate the powerful healing that humor bring to a terrible
tragedy.
I avoid
f-words, and swearing! And I don't use the "N" Word either (Noodge). My show is rated PG.
I do several
stage performances that are suitable for a variety of needs that
include:
Stand-up comedy
clubs: I perform
between 20 and 60 minutes of original stand-up comedy that has won over
audiences at stand-up comedy clubs around the country. I am usually
booked as the "feature" act performing 22 minutes of original material
that blends Arab American ethnicity, airport profiling, and my
Palestinian-Jewish marriage. My shows are generally PG. I avoid foul language and x-rated material.
Public comedy
presentations: I have performed
at ethnic and cultural festivals around the country from Seattle to New
York City. The performances are not intended to offend public audiences
and I do not swear or make jokes about religion. They run between 30 and
45 minutes. The shows vary according to audience needs, and I offer a more
focused Arab American themed show for Arab American audiences, and a more
focused American theme for American audiences.
Public speaking: Combining a
segment of my stand-up comedy show with a serious look at the events of
the Middle East conflict, I help move audiences to understand not only the
Arab and Palestinian viewpoints, but to recognize and comprehend the
Moderate Palestinian American voice. Humor helps audiences step out of
their confrontational stands and preconceived notions. Moderations helps
audience understand the real challenges of the conflict and recognize the
solutions.
My views
are expressed weekly in my columns distributed by the prestigious Creators
Syndicate in Los Angeles. The columns and my career writing have won
numerous professional journalism awards including the Society of
Professional Journalists Chicago Headline Club Lisagor Award for Column
Writing (twice awarded, seven-time runner-up) and Best Ethnic Comlumnist 2006/2007 from the New America Media.
