Advocate for the rights of Palestinians and Christian Arabs by speaking out for their just cause, AND also speaking out against religious extremism.
We oppose violence and view suicide bombings as terrorism. We view Israeli military provocations and settler militancy as terrorism. We view Hamas as a terrorist organization working outside of the legitimate Palestinian government.
We support the two-State solution with a sovereign Palestine sharing Jerusalem and an Israeli return of all of the lands occupied in 1967 through peaceful non-violent negotiations.

St. Vincent DePaul Society, Jerusalem
Greetings,
Allow me to introduce to you the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Jerusalem, a very old society that we are reviving for the benefit of our remaining Christians in Jerusalem. Kindly take a few minutes to read the below:
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul in Jerusalem was first established in 1851. The Society is a fraternal Catholic organization of lay people who practice Christianity by helping those in need on a person-to-person basis. Leading each member of the local families to join together to grow spiritually by offering help to needy and suffering people, The Society functions in the tradition of its founder blessed Fredric Ozanam, and the patron of St. Vincent De Paul.
Due to the great turmoil in the Holy Land, the situation of the people is getting worse and worse every day, which has increased the demand for help. Many families are having problems in providing the daily basic needs.
The Society’s activities take place in different areas, which includes, visitation to elders in their homes, nursing homes, and sick people. It assists needy students in tuition fees for non-school/ non-university training and education, provides assistance with medical prescriptions, laboratories, hospitals, and rehabilitation of drug addicts, as well as distributing monthly cash for needy families in Jerusalem, West Bank, and Gaza Strip. The Society provides food to elders in nursing homes in addition to food distribution to needy families. Mortuary Services for the Christian community in Jerusalem and its surrounding areas are also provided.
The organizational structural of St. Vincent is made up of seven members of the board with the Chair-Person, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and three Consultants. Our current General Assembly consists of 32 members.
St. Vincent de Paul Society is a fully registered non-profit charity organization under the number 045
Our Goals
The main goals of our Society are summarized as follows:
1. Help the real needy and elderly in the Old City of Jerusalem.
2. Provide support medicine for non-Jerusalem cases living in Jerusalem
3. Resolve medical insurance cases for Jerusalem inhabitants to rejoin the government medical insurance program.
4. Give the opportunity for the students who have not finished school and will not join any university, to enroll in vocational training that will help them work in Jerusalem in different posts and jobs that will come back to them with a decent income for living.
5. Decrease the number of youth emigrating to foreign countries.
6. Develop greater self esteem in our youngsters and motivate them to learn and earn their living without relying on Church and Aid funds.
7. Help addicts to overcome their difficulty in various ways of recovery.
8. Provide basic funeral services for our dead.
9. Facilitate the best committal process for the deceased.
10. Provide Mortuary Services for the Christian community in Jerusalem and its surrounding areas.
11. Subsidize tuition fees for school and university needy students.
Brief History
In 1856 the Society opened the first hospital in Jerusalem, situated next to the Holy Sepulcher with a capacity to accommodate 18 patients; 10 men and 8 women.
In 1891 the Society’s activities expanded remarkably, new branches were opened in Bethlehem, Jaffa, Haifa, Salt and Nazareth.
During World War I when the difficult conditions of war led to famine and displacement of people, help was offered by the Society to refugees in Taybeh, Jifna, Birzeit and many other locations in the Holy Land.
Through the 1948 War, the Society extended help to those refugees who took shelter in the Old City of Jerusalem and the surrounding villages. A clinic was opened, children were taken care of, schooling, job training, clothing and sometimes even feeding.
The consequences of the 1967 war also led the Society to offer help wherever it was needed. We supported existing institutions such as hospitals, orphanages, vocational schools and others.
Since 1987, the Society with its modest means is still participating in alleviating the needs of those families affected by the current events in the Holy Land to include prisoners and their families, the unemployed, the sick and the aged.
For nearly 150 years now, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in Jerusalem has been loyal to its mission. Visits to the sick and needy continue and financial assistance is offered on the basis of necessitate and with no discrimination of religion, sex or color
Our message
The task of the Society is limited only by its financial restrictions; the more the Society receives funds, the further it bestows out. The tending to the poor, needy, sick and those families afflicted by the consequences of injustice remains a cherished goal of the Society and its members in this Holy and yet troubled City of Jerusalem. Each of you our friends can be part of our circle of friends, by engaging in the following:
a. Making a Financial contribution
b. Volunteering with us.
c. Introducing others to St. Vincent de Paul Society Jerusalem
We are actually looking for contributions that will provide perpetual funding to assist St. Vincent de Paul in Jerusalem in helping the needy and continuing in its history of mission. Through the earnings of donations and endowments, St. Vincent de Paul Society will be able to continue it’s tasks in lending a hand to the poor and deprived.
If you would like to assist in this manner, we will be happy to receive your hand-outs, our address is:
