Friday, 8:30 PM Episode: Interview with former Palos Heights Mayor Dean Koldenhoven. Koldenhovenserved as the mayor of Palos Heights in Southwest SUburban Chicago from 1997 until April 2001. In the summer of 2000, a group of Muslims attempted to purchase a Christian church there but community residents demanded they be stopped. Koldenhoven vetoed an ordinace to prevent the sale and a proposal to give the Muslims $200,000 to "go someplace else." As a result, Koldenhoven, who won with 2600 votes in 1997, ran a distant 3rd in April 2001 with less than 500 votes. Koldenhoven was awarded the 2002 John F. Kennedy Profiles in Courage Award for standing up for civil rights and placing principles over personal benefit.
